What is the goal of missions? What is the fuel of missions? Worship! Dare we say, white–hot intercessory worship? In our day we see a new thing happening. God is fulfilling His word to His people that He would restore David’s “fallen tent.”

Amos 9:11-12 tells us, “In that day I will restore David’s fallen tent. I will repair its broken places, restore its ruins, and build it as it used to be, so that they may possess the remnant of Edom {the Gentiles} and all the nations that bear my name,’ declares the LORD, who will do these things.”

There was something about David’s worship in his small tent that honored the LORD supremely. We know it was his devotion to God, his heart after God’s heart, and his setting up of continuous worship that so pleased God. Dick Eastman, in his book Pathways of Delight, explains the relationship between David’s tabernacle and worship. He says, “David’s Tabernacle would be a global movement of passionate praise and powerful prayer that would raise up the canopy of God’s glory over every nation and people group on earth”.

There has always been a remnant in history of those who worship God in spirit and in truth from even before David until now, but in our day God is declaring a new world worship movement and the nations are being mightily touched by it.

How do we know that we are in “that day” that Amos speaks of? We believe that the biblical evidence is indisputable. By reading the rest of Amos’ prophecy we see that God defines “that day” by one amazing circumstance, the return of the exiled people of Israel to their own land. Ask any expert on world history and he or she will find it impossible to show another case on record where a defeated and exiled people returned and re-established their nation. There has been only one such event; the return of the Jews to Israel in 1948 after 2000 years. We are living in that day.

There is also proof numerically. The Lord is daily bringing in new worshipers (believers) by the thousands worldwide. In an era when the hatred of the enemy only intensifies and we are under the threat of catastrophic terrorism, Jesus is expanding His kingdom on earth like never before. Soon, a world-wide covering of intercessory worship and prayer will prevail!
