SHOULDER 2 SHOULDER MINISTRIES | GUATEMALA

The Cox family has a passion for Guatemala that is growing as they study the language, immersed in the culture. They look forward to working shoulder-to-shoulder with families in the small town of Parramos with Academy of Future Leaders.

Parramos is a town of 30,000 people where the largest form of employment within the city limits is agriculture. There is no access to higher education in the area, and unemployment is higher than the national average.

Academy of Future Leaders is a ministry with the goal to empower the community by providing a Biblical foundation and skills needed to achieve good jobs. Currently, the academy has an English program and a soccer program to bring the community together.

God placed on Caleb’s heart the desire to start a Skilled Trades Program through Academy of Future Leaders. Within this program, students will learn skills such as auto mechanic, welding, and home repairs. These are skills transferable to a job or their own business. The program will not only include how to repair things physically, students will also work through how to repair themselves spiritually.

Jess’s heart is to focus on kids. She is working with Academy of Future Leaders to develop a Christian school where local kids can receive a solid education and pursue a relationship with Jesus.

They look forward to fellowshipping alongside the people of Guatemala to restore families and spread the love, hope, and word of God to strengthen and restore families.
